    Our History

    The History of LGNDZ Athletics Club

     Lifting LGNDZ Athletic Academy was founded in 2020 by Daryl "Coach Ray" Spencer. The organization was created to help youth build a strong mental, physical and emotional being. The Academy seeks to uplift youth in the community through our various programs, preparing them to not just become contributing members of society, but to be legendary mentally, physically, and spiritually in life, creating a legacy of greatness for themselves, their families and their communities. Most importantly, we teach our youth to persevere even when they feel like giving up and things get tough, “Keep Going"

    Our Vision


    The Vision of LGNDZ Athletics Club is more than athletic training. Training is a vehicle in which we impart information and skills. We strive to motivate, uplift, and encourage our youth to look deeper into their future to become LGNDZ within themselves which will in return inspire others.


    Our Mission


    The LGNDZ Athletics Club mission is to inspire youth to be healthy by giving them the tools to be, physically, mentally and emotionally fit. We do this by: 

    • Providing nutritional information that promotes a healthier lifestyle.
    • Creating a culture of continuous improvement that enhances athleticism for every level of athlete.
    • Providing educational resources that create a positive learning environment so our youth can be positive contributors in their communities.
    • Creating an inclusive culture that provides skill development, career exploration, character development, continuous personal growth and goal setting.


    Our Core Values


    • Uphold a respectful environment by addressing bullying, bias, harassment and celebrating differences. 
    • Creating an environment that promotes honesty and integrity in both our athletes and staff.

    LGNDZ Athletics Club  is a comprehensive program that focuses on the Student Athlete holistically so that they are strong physically, academically, and have a firm sense of leadership and responsibility. Our programming includes an after school program that features tutoring, weekly workshops, and athletic training.

    Our program is committed to shaping our student athletes into individuals who have a strong sense of accountability and responsibility for themselves and their communities. Through our monthly service learning projects and Annual 5K Walk and Run, our student athletes will engage in a way that teaches them the importance of gratitude and giving back.

     Our After-school tutoring program is designed to help our student athletes get better test scores, earn higher grades, and improve their overall attitudes towards the learning process, particularly in math, science and reading.  


    There are many reasons parents choose tutoring for their children. Some parents feel unable to help their chil

     Our After-school tutoring program is designed to help our student athletes get better test scores, earn higher grades, and improve their overall attitudes towards the learning process, particularly in math, science and reading.  


    There are many reasons parents choose tutoring for their children. Some parents feel unable to help their children with schoolwork. Others may find their children are more receptive to working through school struggles with another person. Tutoring can help strengthen subject comprehension, boost confidence, and build important learning skills.


    Tutoring gives students individualized attention that they don’t get in a crowded classroom. This helps children who struggle to keep up, as well as those who aren’t challenged enough. It also keeps students on track during breaks from school, such as during Spring Break, or during the summer.

    These workshops teach LGNDZ Athletic  Club  Student-Athletes how to care for their mental and physical health. Sessions include yoga and meditation, stress management skills, nutrition and much more!


    Character Building 

    The Character Building Workshops are designed to promote exemplary character among athletes. Oftentimes, the focus is on great athleticism and not on character. Our student-athletes learn compassion, trustworthiness, respect, responsibility and fairness.


    Career Exploration & Skill Development

    These workshops are created to help students discover career possibilities. Workshop topics include:


    1. Exploring areas of interest
    2. Uncovering unique skills and talents
    3. Matching their skills with careers
    4. Acknowledge their achievements
    5. Identify work strengths and values and improve interviewing skills.

     LGNDZ Athletic Club youth participants will coordinate monthly Service Learning events. Service Learning is an instructional strategy that combines meaningful service to the community with curriculum-based learning. Students improve their academic and civic skills by applying what they learn in LGNDZ Athletics Club weekly programming, in

Service Learning is an instructional strategy that combines meaningful service to the community with curriculum-based learning. Students improve their academic and civic skills by applying what they learn in LGNDZ Athletics Club weekly programming, in the real world. This is a form of civic education that provides students with opportunities to explore what it means to be an active, engaged citizen. Each student athlete is responsible for completing a minimum of 30 service learning hours per year. For each service learning experience, student athletes then reflect on their experiences through journal entries to reinforce the link between their service and their learning. The service learning events culminate in a presentation to the community at the LGNDZ Athletics Club/Academy Annual Run & Walk.

     The LGNDZ Athletic Club Annual Community Walk & Run will be held in a selected community in the City of Cincinnati. The walk is created to promote health and wellness in neighborhoods where health disparities are high and the members of the neighborhoods are in need of tools and resources to keep themselves healthy and active. This event

     The LGNDZ Athletic Club Annual Community Walk & Run will be held in a selected community in the City of Cincinnati. The walk is created to promote health and wellness in neighborhoods where health disparities are high and the members of the neighborhoods are in need of tools and resources to keep themselves healthy and active. This event is intended to, along with our partners, create more healthy communities across the City of Cincinnati.

    The funds raised from the event will be donated to a local charity that promotes health and wellness in underserved communities.

    Coach Ray

     

    Coach Ray is the visionary behind LGNDZ Athletic Club/Academy. As a certified trainer with the desire and passion to help athletes reach their fullest potential, Coach Ray has dedicated his adult life to the profession of his professional career to the training other athletes on the rise, and nonprofit. Coach Ray is a  Cincinnati native and a graduate of Winton Woods High School. He attended Kent State University majoring in Exercise Science. 


    Coach Ray prides himself on accountability, hard work, progression, dedication and commitment. Coach Ray puts in countless hours and studies his craft to assure that clients, whether 1 on 1 or classes get the proper physical and mental training with academy sport training to prepare them for their day/future.  No matter how tough life's obstacles can be, Coach Ray stands for the basic principle of "KEEP GOING"
